First of all it would be helpful for the rest of us to know what brand/model RV do you have?
I'm guessing you have a class A (since a Class C has the regular OEM hood you can open to get access to the chassis battery).
Given your annoyance I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you have a Vegas or Axis unit both of which does have limited access to the chassis battery.
The best way to gain access (if you have an Axis or Vegas) is to remove the "desk" in front of the passenger seat (someone, in the mods thread I think, installed an access panel there).
