Carefree Travel'r Awning Direct Response
If you coach is equipped with the Carefree Travel'r Power Awning this thread may be of interest to you.
After doing some research on the Travel'r awning installed on my Challenger I found that OEMs can elect to install an optional motion (wind) sensor on this model awning. Thor did not elect to install that option on the Challenger.
I contacted Carefree and the Direct Response kit (part number SR0093) is available to upgrade existing installations of the Travel'r awning. The Direct Response kit, after installation, will automatically retract the awning during windy conditions. From what I can determine there are three sensitivity settings (Low, Med and High). The kit also includes a one touch extend and retract switch which eliminates the need for holding the switch to full extension or retraction. According to Carefree the kit is 110.00 plus 15.00 S&H and can be ordered from them directly.
Although I never leave my awning extended while I am away from the coach, after seeing some awning carnage to other folks after a sudden thunderstorm in Florida in January I believe 125.00 and a couple of hours of effort is a cheap insurance policy.
