Actually some states are as low as 1000 lbs...
Can't get more than 2 states out of Florida without hitting a 1000-2000 pound state.

Brake Buddy seems to have a good list... Verify for yourself the states you will be DRIVING through... This is one restriction that you need to meet the requirements of the state you are in - and not the state the vehicle is registered in.
