Keep the suggestions coming..... Forum folks are the best!
I used to live near Williamsburg (Hampton Va). Much to do. You will need a rental car to get around. The Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown "Triangle" is very rich in colonial history. Old colonial Williamsburg can be walked once you are there. The colonial parkway which connects the three towns is well worth the drive. Too many exhibits to mention in each area from interpretive displays to re-enactments depending on the season. If you are into something different there is a company in Williamsburg which rents Segway's and will take yo on hiking trails - might be fun for you. Wife and I enjoyed it a few years ago.
