Very likely strictly by coincidence. Up until about four year ago, almost all LCD flat-screen televisions under 32" required an external 120V AC/12V DC power supply, (the ubiquitous "power brick").

As LCD televisions quickly became commodity items, (and manufacturing was streamlined, leaned out, and made faster), the power adapter was incorporated into the smaller televisions, just like they always had been for larger sets.
