as a newby, don't go out and buy a bunch of stuff. Just the basic hose from any store will work, then you'll learn what you like or dislike about it before you'll know exactly what you'd rather have.
many of us have several different types, adapters, etc in our arsenal because you never really know what situation make happen at the next 'hook up' ... some will force you to need more footage of hose to reach the outlet, others will require you to go 'uphill' to reach the outlet, etc... everyplace is somewhat different, but your basic hose and adapter will work in most scenarios. Don't sweat it.
