Personally, I would fix the problem rather than disabling or blocking it off. If you can see behind the shower box, you can find the right kind of insulation or sealer to finish it off as it was intended. Sounds like a typical installation job and the time of manufacture. Our sewer drain locker on our 24.1 was shoddily done with large openings where the sewer pipes route into the box. I had the dealership seal it up as was the original intent. You may go to sell the coach some day and that might be the item that someone would want to use. Just a thought.
