Exactly the reason for crossing the cables... catch the tongue before it hits the ground.

For the other lines - some towbars have 'pathways' for the cables.
I use coiled safety cables - and the installed coiled the 'breakaway' wire - the brake monitor light wire runs thru the breakaway coil.
The main umbilical from RV to toad runs on top of the tow bar.
