The Atwood tank is aluminum I believe which is the reason for the plastic plug....no metal sacrificial anode plug required. Although tempting to replace the plastic plug with metal.....there is potential for corrosion to occur if you do.....dissimilar metals (aluminum tank; steel or brass plug and water may cause issues long term). Stick with the plastic plug. I find I need to use teflon tape on mine even though the plug is tapered I think.
