Two helpful tabs at the tool bar near the top: New Posts and Search.

New posts shows you what has been added since your last visit, very helpful.

Search will lead you to discussions that have been had about topics like your question. You'll find that you are not the first (or the last) to have door latch problems. Remedies are explained along with part order numbers.

I had a similar stuck latch experience several years ago, and the latch didn't remove so easily because of the way it broke. Friends had to remove the entire door, and I can tell you that there are dozens of screws holding the door on!
