I would be worried about the back pressure of the exhaust on the generator. I would take it to a dealer get their take on it. Then, if you are comfortable make the repairs. It does not have to be a RV dealer, any dealer that works with exhaust can answer your questions. I do know that back pressure on the generator can cause damage to the generator
