I tried larger screws, too... Some heavy lag screws held for a while but they stripped out. That water is just too heavy for the way that they have it done. It needs to be supported from beneath or lag bolted through the floor with fender washers (or both like I did) to be sufficient. I'm not impressed at all with the way that Thor did this. There's no way that the self tapping sheet metal screws they had screwed into particle board will hold up several hundred pounds of water.
