We have a 24TX, and have towed our HHR on occasion. I have to say, though, it does not do a great job of towing, at least not compared to the 41 foot DP we had previously. With our 3100 pound car back there, we are right at max, which I am never completely comfortable with. I would not be comfortable towing over any major grades with it, but that's me. Frankly the TX and probably your TF is small enough that you can get it into parking lots. If we are staying somewhere for any period of time, we rent an econo-box which has worked well for us. BTW that 5000 pound rating is the hitch, and has nothing to do with max GVCW. If you were to tow 5000 pounds, you would be overweight right out of the box.
