These are the links to the Amazon site I purchased the shocks and brackets for the mod. I went with the 100 lb shocks and is a little overkill but so nice as a simple touch of the mattress and it shoots open. Harder to close and you have to hold the wood to close - not the mattress! I used machine screws with nuts as the screws would easily pull out with the force (purchased at Lowes). I also bought a piece of metal to place on the other side (hidden) of the wood on the side of the bed facing rear wall of couch.


These are 445 N force - which are almost impossible to close by themselves - I will be replacing the 225 N ones on the outside kitchen as after 6 month, these are starting to sag already!
Thank you so much for the link and for the info! I think this is a great idea, and we'll work on doing this modification once we get some of the bugs worked out of the coach.
