Define plenty of gas. The pickup tube in the gas tank is high enough so it will suck air if the gas tank in not at least 1/4 full. This is by design. Actually most pickups are shorter than that so they suck air 1/3 full. I never let my tank get below the 1/2 full if I am running the generator or plan on running it that day.
