Regarding the slinky...I never put mine out unless I'm actually using it. The tanks will hold several days or so of "digested meals". I'll break it out when the wife want to take a 30 minute shower but i put it back away. There are lots of creepy crawlers in the sewers of campgrounds that will come up your hose, plus there's a chance of some tripping over it. In your case this would be a good option. Also, its not good practice to leave the valves open while camping...you want fluids to fill the tanks before emptying. Otherwise you'll get poop volcanoes building up in the bottom of a dry tank.
