The RV steps typically get power from the chassis battery. Lippert bought both Power Equipment (jacks etc.) and Kwikee Step in 2014 so there are probably a mixed bag of step types out there. I expect that the operation though is probably similar. There is a good hyperlink to Kwikee step models and schematics and troubleshooting procedures that may help.

Careful working on steps when they are powered in case of accidental deployment. Probably better to work on them with chassis (and coach) power turned off once you prove that you are getting power to the step OK. I would then check the step ground wire connections to ensure they are tight and clean. It also may be good to pull apart the wiring connector under the step and ensure clean terminals and then reconnect to ensure tight connections. Use the Kwikee troubleshooter procedures about half way through the Kwikee PDF document if you can match your steps to one of their models.
