The lid is more for keeping it clean after cooking not for steaming at least that was my understanding
Ive seen the tin tray with handles. The handles are just held on with magnets
I dont think they need a handle. Just lift the tray off
I bought tge cover for mine. Its good for storage but i wouldnt want to put it on when the griddle is still hot. Thats,where the lid would come into play
