On the Thor Plant 750 F-53 coaches there is typically 1.25 inches clearance between the intake manifold and Thor's insulation. Most sound deading/ high temp insulation is 1/8 to 3/16 inches thick. As long as there is 1/2" clearance there is enough circulation to prevent problems. So I would think one or two layers would be fine. If course your coach is somewhat different.
