Similar problems at my sisters house. Old farmhose and only 2 conductor wiring, surge would not connect, "error floating ground". It was a 3 prong plug outside but no ground wire anywhere. She has since had the house totally re-wired. (and added a 30 amp RV outside for me

Your surge protector is indicating a problem with the circuit at the house. Try another receptacle or that one needs repair.. Don't use it, shock hazard..
