Jerry,
I had the same issue last year coming back from Yellowstone. We were almost home, coming down the I-70 into Denver. We were in tow/haul mode and the engine had been screaming all the way up to the tunnels and down at 4200+ RPM, but keeping our speed comfortable without having to use the brakes much. At the “Truckers you aren’t down yet” sign we picked up a check engine light, which stayed on all the rest of the way home. I have an Automatic OBDC module and it said engine misfire. I cleared the error and haven’t seen it since.
We go to Rocky Mountain National Park on Sunday for a week, so we will see how it goes. Grades into Rocky aren’t bad though, just the one drop into Estes Park.We won’t be taking the coach over Trail Ridge Road either.
