Replacing hydraulic lift motor

I need help disconnecting power to my 12v motor that runs the lift gate on my 2002 Four Winds Fun Mover. I'm in a park that's semi isolated and resources hard to come by. I need to remove the motor as I can't find a part number while it's installed. I disconnected the positive terminal of the auxiliary battery and I'm still getting sparking. Do I need to totally disconnect that battery? Also do I need to disconnect the main battery as well? the liftgate is stuck in the low position so I cannot drive the vehicle until it's fixed. I think I know which motor to purchase but want to be sure before I send away for it. Thanks for your help.
