I pulled the inline filter as you suggested. It contained tiny white plastic particles, enough to cover the bottom of the screen. It was definitely due to be cleaned. Thank you again for the suggestion. While I suspect this solution alleviated a related future problem, to my dismay, it didn't solve this problem.

By the way, have you experienced any other issues with your Ace?
