I spent over 30 years in refineries, so working with gas isn’t a big deal for me. The big deal is that RV and home stuff is so small. The gas valve is self contained with only a flared tubing fitting connection. Glad it cost me less than $60. Sad state of affairs with the RV industry when you would rather spend a couple hundred $$ instead of dealing with the broken warranty system. I guess it turned out the way they wanted it.
I went over to the coach today and re-sealed the cover. Last time I did it, I used butyl tape which was a little messy and made the cover hard to get off. This time I used some weather stripping I had in my collection of stuff I bought and never used. It fit in the groove the the cover flange goes into quite well and the cover fit in without bulging. So I think I’ve got a good seal. We got a really hard set of thunderstorms coming through today, so I’ll check to see how it worked tomorrow. I still have some cleanup to do get rid of the rest of the stuck on butyl rubber and the first attempt with silicon.
