You could add an ON/OFF switch or better yet a circuit breaker between the solar controller and the battery bank. That way you can trip the breaker (like an on/off switch) if you donít want it to charge your battery bank or when you need to do maintainance on them (add water / test / replace down the road).

I have been looking at adding solar to mine and I plan on added TWO Circuit breakers, one before and one after the solar controller. Not only for safty but just in case I need to remove the controller for any reason or mess with the battery.
