Popping sound and furnace

I have a 2016 Hurricane 34F with Atwood (propane) furnace. We're in Colorado with it on our maiden voyage. Only in the last few days have we needed to use the heat in the morning. We've been hearing these popping sounds from outside that don't sound like a firecracker or gunshot, but a loud popping noise.

After a few days of puzzling about it, I wondered if it might have something to do with the furnace and pilot/igniter and the fact we're at around 9,000' above sea level. I turned off the heat and…no more popping noise.

I should note that I tried waiting outside to try and detect the source, but as long as I waited…no sound. Almost as soon as I walked back in the coach…pop!

Anyone else have this or can confirm my suspicions?

Thanks.

Paul
