My 12 year old Class C also has a black tank valve on the passenger side. I close it first when I am finished dumping then close the valve at the drain connection. That leaves the pipe under the RV empty just in case something damages the pipe while driving. When I dump I open the valve at the drain then the dump nearest the tank. That gives the effluent a straight shot out. I have been doing this for years with no problem.
