no, probably your average RV antenna is going to give you about the best reception, for your location, of most anything else you'd spend extra money toward - a lot of the issues are with 'where' you are, more than 'what' you have to receive the signal - some locations just aren't going to have much or anything to 'see' via an antenna...

so, yes, unless you have the money for all the data needed to stream wifi/internet/cell phone movies and shows via one of the online players, or want to watch DVDs, and Lord willing, VHSs, then SATELLITE service is the only other option....which is why so many of us use it.

There are some decent priced smaller channel number packages available, yet what happens is you find that your 'favored' channels are on the more costly packages - which is why we spend $100 monthly for our Dish TV for all three of our receivers, including our home antenna, and the portable antenna when RVing. We just carry a receiver in the RV and get channels when we're traveling, just the same as at home. I have satellite at home anyway, so it really only costs me the extra receiver rental($7) monthly, and the original cost of the portable antenna($350~).

So, yes, $100 for many, many channels on satellite, at home AND when RVing... but we also don't have any option for cable or antenna channels where we live(up in them 'that thar' hills in the beautiful western North Carolina Blue Ridge mountains!)...
