I like the idea of a bright color. I used a pipe wrap the same color as the arm. I used it one trip and since it was so similar in color, I kept forgetting to take it off.
I used a large pool noodle as a rail for the overhead bunk. I'll get a smaller one and use it like you did for awning arm.
I just got back from the Gulf and had lots of sun but no trees like you have in your shot. I could have used a tree.
