I could have cut another piece of 1/2 inch ply wood to fit the hole instead of rigging the piece I removed which leaves about 1/4 all the way around. The 1/8 plywood makes a pretty stable base for whatever you use to cover the hole.

Even if you decide to access oil and the battery some other way, the duct system sits on the battery and could cause problems in the future. Good idea to get that off of it by using hanger zip ties. Makes it easier to see everything as well.

One word of caution, do not overtighten the screws in the plastic desk...I cracked mine when I got "carried away"
