Look inside the socket and see if it is indeed corroded? If it is you can try scraping the contact with the tip of a screw driver to clean off the rust. Or if you can get a emory board inside or a piece of sandpaper on the end of a screwdriver. You can also try an eraser on the end of a pencil if the rust isn't to bad.
