I had mine come apart in the snow and ice at a farm in North Carolina in December. Looked like a big issue, was not.

My awning is used frequently at track and even at home. One screw had apparently fell out. The other pulled loose due ice/slush preventing arm closure. Since I was at farm ladder was readily available.

I ended up using short #6 or #8 self tapping sheet metal screws. Thread was only 1/4" to 3/8" plus drill point. I did use stainless. Took me longer to find drill than effect repair. I also checked other end and it was loose so I replaced those screws as well. I cannot post pic but they have 5/16" hex head. Take one of original screws for size reference. I did not use anchors as it was through sheetmetal into pot metal or aluminum casting.

I checked them yesterday while washing unit. They are still tight.
