Which part of my post in your other thread did you not understand?
The switch IS connected to a solenoid as the switch itself cannot handle the current requirements going into/out of the battery.
An easy way to see which way is connected is to unplug from shore power and toggle the switch. The direction that lights the red light is CLOSED: the house batteries are connected to the DC buss.
