Type of Snow Chains

Before we start, let me just say that it is required by law to carry chains on I-5 between Redding CA to Cottage Grove OR until the end of March. So "don't drive in the snow" is not an option since I plan on using that road on March 1st.

With that in mind, I went looking for tire chains today. I already have the quick install cable chains for my toad. The salesman said with the weight of the motorhome, he suggested that I go with the older chain style snow chains. They are actually cheaper than the newer cable chains.

And I assume that if required, I only have to put chains on the outside rear / drive tires of the motorhome. None are needed on the toad while towing.

Any opinions?
