I had seen that prediction and would have never thought Ford would actually go back to a pushrod engine. Pushrod engines are fine as long as you keep RPMs fairly low, which must be the intended application here. They are just not going to get the same specific power than if they had opted for DOHC design.

Trucks used pushrods for a long time, so it should be fine. My old Mustang has pushrods and has never been an issue. It just doesn’t make much power compared to most modern engines.
