For the rest of us who want something new, Ford said they expect their 7.3L V8 to be most powerful in class, which should therefore exceed Chevy’s new but smaller 6.6L V8. At same 70 lb-ft per liter, that would put the new pushrod Ford around 500 lb-ft, which would be a significant improvement over the outgoing 6.8L V10.

In the meantime, Chevy previews the new truck with a few new images and specs on the all-new 6.6L V8 that is rated at 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. Naturally, the 6.6L Duramax turbo-diesel is also there with 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque and a new 10-speed Allison automatic transmission.
