As you can see i tied a strip of material to the bar to hopefully remind me it there and to remove before extending.

Yeah, I got one of those. Thought it was for keeping the slide from coming 'in' cause the kids would think your control is the TV control and surprise! Didn't know it was also for other uses. Ain't got no kids so don't use it.
