When the relay operates it closes its main power contacts which should directly connect the coach and chassis batteries + terminals (via cabling) together. So you should then see the same voltage measured to ground on both sides of the main power terminals of the relay...which would be 14.5 when alternator is charging (engine running) and more typically 13.1+ when the converter is charging the batteries (via shore power/engine off).
