Clean Black water Tank

When I emtpy my black water tank and flush with copious amounts of grey/fresh water, the indicator light still shows 3 or even 4 lights indicating near full. This is on a Class C Chateau 2017 29G. I watch the drain pipe buck and snort and I hear the rush of "water", but still.
Just moments ago I went to an RV dump site and filled the blackwater tank with a few gallons of fresh water. Drained the tank again and then used the tank cleaner attachment for the water hose (the one that works like a sprinkler head) and ran it up and down as far as I could. The result: Empty indicator light. Success.
My question is am I getting a false positive in the first place since I believe the tank was already empty? Or did I splash something off the sensor inside the tank?
Your wisdom will be appreciated.
