New tire

Parking this monster in a VERY tight spot, I got both passenger tires on, over, and off the patio slab; ~6 inches thick. Luckily, no contact with rams, wheels, or under carriage. Today, I noticed a strip of rubber tread hanging out of the middle tread of the front tire. Needless to say, I’ll be replacing both passenger side tires. My plan, and please comment any advice:

I’ll pull the rear driver’s side to replace the front passenger side. I’ll take the ‘never used’ spare and install at the rear driver’s side. Now, the speculation. I have to buy a new tire, and would prefer the Michelin XTA, 18 plies. Can I mount that on one side of the axle, and the new Goodyear on the other? I believe the GY is 16 ply. Any comments?
