You are correct. You can trace both wires going into the ATS (Shore and Genny wires) and then see the ONE output. I use that output wire going to the fuse panel so it protects me from Shore and Genny power.
Very easy. I had to mount mine on a rubberized pad to soak up some humming noise. See if you can place further back or against the outside wall to minimize hum noise in bedroom.
