There is a release catch, but I found it was easier to remove plastic dash top,6 screws, then take 2 small screwdrivers to release the radio from it's carriage. The way my radio is recessed the overhang made it impossible to get to the release. The face actually plugs into the front of the radio,so when reinstalling leave top of dash off so when you push radio back into the carriage you can hold the back of the radio while pushing the face onto the radio in till you hear it click. Then check operation of the radio before reinstalling the dash top.
