Ford has released new information on the upcoming 2021 E-Series, and it clears up some of the questions we’ve discussed before.
Contrary to previous reports, there is only the 7.3L V8 engine, and will come in Premium or Economy ratings. Power and torque ratings for each are to be determined. There is no mention of 6.2L SOHC V8 at all.
The only transmission listed is the 6-speed. The new 10-speed will be used on Super Duty pickups. The heavy duty F-650 and F-750 will also keep the 6-speed.
Dual alternators will be a little different than previously advertised by Ford, but still very good capacity. Maximum rating will be 397 Amps (240 + 157 Alternators?).
Since the 6.2L V8 is now out of the picture, and the new pushrod 7.3L V8 is supposedly much narrower, I hope Ford will make the engine doghouse a bit narrower to increase foot space.
