You should have proof of registration / ownership, and insurance in the vehicle. Donate it to charity and tell them you will send the title when you can have it mailed to them from wherever it may be.
If you find something to buy new, I promise you they will help you with your temporary papers.
My question is if you are on the road in RV and lose your toad, is the new toad that important that you can't wait to get back home? Unless you buy exact same kind of car you have to purchase all of that towing equipment all over again?
