Synthetic blend Motorcraft. Oil gets dirty looking from the carbon particles held in suspension by the detergent packager in the oil. While the engine oil does not wear-out, the additive packages are sacrificial and temperature sensitive. The Triton's cylinders are plateau honed at the Windsor factory, Ford states it will take approximately 20,000 miles for the engine to fully "wear-in" depending on engine load. During that period expect some blow-by and oil consumption of one pint per 7,500 miles (normal service for the F-53 chassis).
