I use an external Surge Guard and lock it to my power cord using one of these.

Been working fine and without issue for over 3 years now.

For TPMS I just purchased the Tire Minder TM77 to replace an older system with non-replaceable batteries. I plan on installing the Tire Minder this weekend, to include sensors on the Jeep.
