House batteries

Just put 2 new house batteries in our 1999 Hurricane. We cannot figure out how to use them. There is panel just inside the door labeled "Battery Storage Control". 1 toggle for the chassis, 1 toggle for the coach, and a small toggle for the steps. To start the motor in the RV we have to push the " chassis" toggle to "connect". A green light comes on. If we don't " disconnect" later the battery for the motor goes dead. The other toggle labeled "coach" and when "connected has a red light that comes on. We use that when we are plugged in to 30 amp shore power. I am not sure if it is wired correctly. We cannot figure out how to camp using just the house batteries.
