I've had a full awning privacy/sun shade roll up with my awning for over 4 years, no issues whatsoever....it just slides into the additional 'spline' on my awning roller.

also, I use it to keep the awning still by using the lower eyelets to hold it down with bungee cords/ground stakes. If I need to roll in the awning, I just unclip the bungees from the shade bottom eyelets.

While the manufacturers may say that these are not designed to roll up with the awning, I've never seen any reason why not... it's certainly not been any issue for us, and not having to take out a shade and try to install it at every stopover is nice... it's just there everytime you run out the awning : )
