almost forgot, Huguenot Campground, just north of Jacksonville, on both the Beaches, AND the shipping inlet....
while no hookups, a FANTASTIC time can be had watching the shipping traffic, and walking around the peninsula, which is a story unto itself!
and, since you're that close, go on up to the very TIP TOP of Florida... to
Fort Clinch State Park ATLANTIC BEACH Campground, right on the beach...hard to get, but this north part of Amelia Island is just amazing... give it a try!

They've just recently reopened Huguenot Campground for camping. Generator quiet hours are in effect but you may not need AC at that time of year. You can also drive the toad on the beach there.
On the other side of the St. Johns river just south of Mayport Naval Station is another city park; Hannah Park. Although the campsites are not on the beach the campground is and it's just a short jaunt to the beach parking lots. You can also get full hook-up sites there.
