Yes, it's plugged in all the time. I check the water level monthly, distilled water, and maintain it at the desired level, below the notch in the filler. The cable connections are clean, they are treated with a dielectric grease. The fuzz seems to be coming from the bottom of the front battery in the compartment. I have cleaned with baking soda, coca cola. even a spray cleaner I found at Autozone.
